[Ramil(e) Brevil(e) ; Eleazar St. Cyr]

$750
  • Location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti
  • Date: circa 1923-1927
  • Seller SKU: 2830

Nine items in total, each constituting one folded leaf, some inscribed recto and verso. 8 x 10 in. and smaller. Very good. loose. [2830]

A fascinating glimpse into the world of Freemasonry in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, during the early 20th century, under U.S. military occupation. This group of correspondence concerns the business and membership of La Respectable Société [sometimes given as Cercle] de l'Avenir and La Respectable Société de la Belle Venus. The two principle correspondents, Ramil(e) Brevil(e) and Eleazar (or Eilazar) St. Cyr both seem to hold executive positions within the groups mentioned above.
