An early and excellent piece of ephemera from the career of Mexican experimental theater director, playwright, actor, and multimedia artist Juan José Gurrola, being an announcement brochure for a production of "Despertar de Primavera" (The Awakening of the Spring) by Frank Wedekind, directed by Gurrola and performed by Grupo de Teatro de la Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura, at UNAM, where Gurrola had been a student in architecture from 1954-1958 and staged his earliest theater productions. The brochure features tactful dadaesque typography, with text and photographs printed overlapping and at right angles in brown and black, with the back cover featuring a youthful photograph of Gurrola in his capacity as director.
