[JUVENILE] [GEOGRAPHY] [ARCHITECTURE] [GREAT BRITAIN] [ILLUSTRATED]. Later edition featuring the Crystal Palace as the frontispiece. Small 4to (9 5/8" x 6 ½"); 15pp; pictorial green wrapper printed with the title and publisher on the front, decorative framing around a vignette at the top showing a woman reading a book to two children while four others play next to her, the bottom vignette features a woman with three children and a doll; rear wrapper features publisher's ads for Cousin Honeycomb's New Series of Entertaining Original Toy Books "All 6d"; publisher's string binding; frontispiece; hand-colored wood engravings of important places in London; historiated caps; hand wear to wrapper, wrapper fold separated from bottom and top but still held by string, chipping and corner creases; very good minus.

Bright, hand-colored wood engravings illustrate the famous and important London public buildings. The Crystal Palace, the New Parliament Houses, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, The Monument, the Royal Exchange, and the New Post-Office are all pictured in lively street scenes. No date is given for publication, but the appearance of the Crystal Palace erected in Hyde Park in 1851 appears to be the most recent addition to London and the publishers are still located at Threadneedle Street. (Osborne Collection p. 805) Earlier editions of this title featured different frontispiece illustrations.
