Sentimental style portraits of children from the ages of one to four years are beautifully pictured by noted illustrator, Maud Humphrey (1868-1940). Humphrey was an artist and suffragette, as well as the mother of the actor Humphrey Bogart. Humphrey's work often featured children painted in a dreamy, sweet style.

The poet, Helen Gray Cone (1859-1934), was a professor of English at Hunter College in New York City and a poet.
