Large 12mo square (7 7/8" x 7")' [16]pp; color pictorial front board, green cloth shelf back; blue floral patterned eps; pictorial title page; 6 chromolithographed movable plates; sepia text and illustrations; wear to boards with light soiling, age-toned paper, some foxing, light spotting on some pages; very good plus. OCLC locates 5 copies, 2 in the USA, 2 in the UK, and one in Germany.

Humorous and sentimental chromolithograph pictures of anthropomorphic dogs, small pets, barnyard animals, and nursery characters such as Riding Hood and Dame Hubbard fill the pages. The text is written in rhyming verse with a movable flap illustration on the opposing page. Each illustration features a small cloth tab to lift and reveal a change in the scene.
