An uncut 1890s panorama, printed in full color and complete with printing guide lines still visible. The panorama depicts a March, 1892 parade in New Orleans held by the Mistick Krewe of Comus (MKC) in twenty different scenes. Each scene has a different fantastical float themed around a different story from Japanese mythology. Some of the stories include: Comus, the Greek god of festivities (the only non-Japanese myth included, more just referencing the group's name); Nippon, Land of the Rising Sun; Izanagi and Izanami, the first parents in Japanese mythology; Inari-Sama, Goddess of Food; Fu-Shi and the Elixir of Immortality; and Sozando, the Dragon Conqueror. Chromolithographed sheet measuring approx. 28" x 42", verso printed with adverts. The Mistick Krewe of Comus (MKC) was a carnival "Krewe" that paraded nearly continuously between 1856 and 1991.
