Honolulu Harlot

O'Hara, Jean

$450
  • Binding: Paperback
  • Date: 1944
  • Pages: 48
  • Seller SKU: 311

First edition. Illustrated wraps, with top right edge of front cover slightly chipped. An exceptionally scarce autobiographical account of the author's experiences as a sex worker, both as a prostitute and as the owner of a brothel in Hawaii, including her interactions - both collaborative and antagonistic - with law enforcement, and her growing financial success as a property owner in wartime Honolulu.

Originally distributed in mimeographed copies as "My life as a Honolulu Prostitute", with this pamphlet published shortly after. Both are rare in institutional collections, with five copies located of "My Life", and only two under the present title.
