Uitgave: Bong & Co., 1900. Hardcover. Very good. 2 octavo vols. 1908pp., paginated continuously. Illustrations throughout, most notably at the front pastedown of the first volume, which sports a five-panel fold-out, on which are seven chromolithograph physiological diagrams. All are movable and numbered, allowing the studious physician to examine the layers of the ear, heart, or skull by lifting a series of flaps and consulting a checklist at the front flyleaf. Platen's comprehensive handbook on homeopathic medicine features other illustrations throughout, these largely didactic in purpose and style, but the design of the volumes' parerga is decidedly Art Nouveau, suitable for Platen's naturalistic approach to the discipline. Both volumes bound in orange cloth over boards with romantically illustrated covers heightened in gilt. Rubs along edges, front hinges starting, as is expected given the heft of the text block. With a clean interior and all movable diagrams in fine shape. Very good overall. May incur additional shipping charges.
