Original 1818 Manuscript with Drawings, Well-Wishes for a Friend's Birthday

Germany, 1818. Good. Wrappers detached and worn with some loss. Toning, dust soiling, at least one leaf loose. A most charming original manuscript, comprised of six (6) original pen-and-ink drawings accompanied by rhymed captions. The drawings include: a young woman hard at work sewing for others; a man kneeling; three boys, including one asking for a pretzel and one with a hole in his trousers; and an assortment of friends. The final drawing of the friends is accompanied by the artist's well wishes to the recipient. In rough translation: "And all friends, big and small, want to join in the wishing, and heartily old ones join in: May she be happy for a very long time!!!". Titled "Um 24ten Weinmonat 1818" ("On the 24th of November 1818"). Single vol. (6.25" by 4.5"), pp. [16], hand sewn in original decorated paper wrps.
