"The Chemical Treatment for Consumption" -- Pharmaceutical Booklet Advertising to Physicians

Cincinnati, Ohio: The Amick Chemical Co, 1900. Very good. Water stain to left-hand margin.. A promotional booklet advertising products by the Amick Chemical Co. to physicians, marketing their pharmaceuticals as treating "consumption, asthma, chronic bronchitis, tubercular laryngitis and catarrh" (upper wrapper). The booklet begins with a brief biography of Dr. Amick and his specialty in pulmonary diseases, and goes on to discuss the nature of these afflictions in detail. Testimonials dressed as "case studies" and prescription amounts round out the booklet. Amick was accused by several other physicians of quackery, and even sued one for libel.
