"Columbia's Noblest Sons" -- Printed Circular Seeking Agents to Sell Patriotic Print Celebrating Union Victory

New York, New York: Manson Lang, 1866. Very good. Minor toning.. Printed circular seeking agents to sell a newly published print by Manson Lang titled "Columbia's Noblest Sons", published at the tail-end of the Civil War. The print itself is not illustrated in the circular, but described in glowing terms: "In the centre of the piece is the 'Goddess of Liberty,' crushing to earth the monster of tyranny and rebellion; at her right is Washington, at her left is Lincoln, and on the brow of each she is placing the Nation's fadeless crown of immortal honor ... Hovering near, the keen-eyed American Eagle her ceaseless vigil keeps, and guarding all on either side, stern Justice has placed those terrible implements of war-- Cannon, Shot and Shell ..." The description goes on to describe the beauty of the print, its size (19 by 21 inches), and the price at which agents will be asked to sell the print (one dollar). On the back of the circular is a list of portrait photographs for sale of prominent figures ranging from Abraham Lincoln to U.S. Grant. Printed bifolium (8" by 5").
