N.pl: Simplicity Pattern Co., Inc, 1943. Good to very good. Appears to be complete, but may be lacking the occasional small element (e.g. a needle). Damage to box with modern tape repairs. Modern repair to doll's arm. Some dust soiling, the occasional short tear or spot to contents inside. Rare to find such a complete set.. A WWII-era play set for little girls to learn sewing and fashion design skills. Housed in the original red white and blue cardboard box, the fabric inside is also patriotically inclined, giving it a real feel for the times. "Peggy", the doll inside, measures approx. 12.5" in height and has removable arms for ease of use. She is accompanied in the original box by the following items: one (1) stand with her name; one (1) torso mannequin with stand; three (3) bolts of cotton fabric; one (1) "Talon" brand zipper in the original plastic packaging; one (1) red tape measure; one (1) small bundle of novelty yarn scraps; two (2) spools of sewing thread; one (1) thimble; one (1) safety pin; three (3) needles; and three (3) plain pins. There is also one (1) printed notice with instructions for how to remove the doll's arms, and one (1) 11" by 8", 16 pp., illustrated booklet of "Hints for the Young Designer": e.g. how to use and cut a pattern, how to thread a needle, how to hem and insert shoulder pads, etc. Even includes directions for how to crochet a miniature snood. Front of booklet includes directions for ordering patterns form the company. Original box measures approx. 13.25" by 10.5" by 3.5", with the top lid divided into two sections and opening outwardly separately.
