Puebla: Tip. de Narciso Bassols, 1882. About very good.. Two volumes. 435; 331pp. Small octavo. Original maroon publisher's cloth, spines gilt. Light wear and staining, cloth rubbed and worn at edges, heavier to rear boards. Contemporary pencil notations to front flyleaf of first volume. Some light toning and soiling to text. "Novisimo manual practico de cocina espaƱola, francesca, inglesa y mexicana, higiene y economia domestica." Second edition, revised and augmented, of this popular Pueblan cook book. The present work contains around 2,200 recipes, divided into topical sections and indexed for ease of use, as well as rules of etiquette and table manners. The whole is designed for ease of use in the everyday kitchen, with a wide array of short and simple recipes. We locate just five copies in OCLC, at UC Berkeley, Michigan State, Miami University, UT San Antonio, and the University of Iowa. Often reprinted and used extensively, the work is scarce in all its 19th-century iterations.
