The booklet begins with a warning, and wastes no time with sugarcoating the current situation: "World domination is the goal of our enemies and ruthless aggression may well be their policy to attain it. An enormous and growing, hostile nuclear force is poised and ready to crush us" (p. 4). It goes on to offer advice on the following subjects, with in-text illustrations: state programs to address the threat, including costs to the public and state; why fallout protection is necessary; how to design and implement a disaster plan and shelter; how nuclear weapons and fallout works; how schools and hospitals should be protected; a detailed discussion of survival supplies, sanitation, light, etc. needed in a shelter; financing and tax relief; civil defense measures; and agricultural concerns. An interesting look into Cold War-era.
