Guadalajara: B. Carillo, 1940. Good plus.. Two issues, each [12]pp. Folio. Original pictorial wrappers, stapled. Spines perishing, light chipping and wear at fore-edges. Moderate toning internally. A pair of issues of this scarce and ephemeral, mid-20th-century songster published in Guadalajara. Each issue contains lyrics to upwards of one hundred songs, printed cheek-by-jowl, titled in various typefaces and decorated with numerous ornamental, borders, and vignettes. Each entry usually includes credits for lyrics and music. The cover of Issue 63 carries a photo of Spanish actress Paquita de Ronda and Cuban actor Juan José Martinez Casado, perhaps from The Margatan Sphinx (1950), in which they co-starred. The second issue bears an image of Jinx Falkenburg, a Spanish-American actress and model who appeared frequently on CBS' Latin American radio network, La Cadena de las Americas, in the 1940s. The songsters claim a wide variety of material, including "los ultimos tangos, canciones y mas." OCLC locates only a small group of issues, at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut in Berlin.
