Small 4to (9 9/16" x 8"); [20]pp; color illustrated stiff board, die-cut window on the front board to represent a stage, title on front, imprint on rear; front board opens to reveal the stage with two tab moveable puppets and the story booklet affixed to the inside; color printing; light shelf-soiling to boards, old glue scrape to front of story booklet; very good plus. Not in Montanaro. Not recorded.

One of three scarce moveable books published by Capitol Publishing Company. The story of Cowboy Jim is presented as a play, and the enclosed booklet labels each scene and sets out the dialog between Jim and his horse, Spotty. Illustrated by Richard M. Powers (1921-1996), a member of the American Society of Illustrators, and remembered for his illustration of science fiction and fantasy books. The two die-cut puppets, Cowboy Jim and his Horse, are moveable by pulling on the tabs at the bottom edge. The puppets are held in with an elastic (rubber) band giving them a springing motion.
