[Farming][Ranching] Very Special Small Vernacular Photo Album Depicting 1920's Farm Life

Black flexi-boards with string ties. "Photographs" embossed on front. Light soiling and wear. Photos mounted on recto only; album less than half filled. Photos are mounted. Fifteen 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 inch black and white images, two 17 1/2 x 4-inch panoramas and one 11 x 4 1/2-inch panorama. Panoramas are backed with linen. Very Good Condition.

Really sweet little vernacular photo album of a family farm and ranch, in an unknown location. No annotations but like a well-crafted wordless novel, we need no script for this album. Each photo tells a story of this family farm including three very nicely produced spliced panoramic images. Includes one family portrait including ranch dogs and four home, barn and outbuilding images. One outbuilding near the house appears to be fronted entirely with cedar shakes--perhaps indicating a northwest location.

Other images include ground crops, fruit trees, cattle and big old draft horses.

It just struck me that there are no children in the family portrait. Maybe I'm wrong but I would assume most early 2oth century farms would be multi-generational with kids running around--not this one.

I've handled hundreds of vernacular photo albums, and this one is special in its simplicity and beauty.
