BLANDIN, André. ABCD. 27 pp., including 27 colored lithographs. 260 x 222 mm., publisher's illustrated cloth-backed boards. Brussels: Imprimerie scientifique Charles Bulens, Editeur, 1913.

A delightful cubist alphabet whose fame has been eclipsed by the Cubies' ABC, which was published in the same year, but which directly satirized the contemporary art scene, and the Armory Show in particular. Blandin was a painter, draftsman, poster artist, exhibition organizer, magazine editor and friend of Apollinaire. In 1911 he organized an exhibition in Brussels, for which he asked Apollinaire to bring him some cubists. In 1914, a second exhibition, entitled "Great Zwans-Exhibition" ("zwans" in Brussels dialect means "burlesque"), can be compared with the Dada and Futurist movements. Some minor marginal foxing, but generally a fresh copy. Rare with OCLC listing only Princeton, Library of Congress, Bryn Mawr and BN worldwide.
