An early tale from this popular series, which began in 1876 [cf. Dime Novel Companion, p. 220-221]. Some speculate Frank Reade was an inspiration for the coming Tom Swift series [ca 1910], as each protaginist is quite the inventor of futuristic devices, which, in turn, give rise to fantastic adventures. OCLC shows only one institutional holding of this edition. Rare.
